Bonsai Art Pty Ltd - Belrose

Post by melbrackstone »

I vaguely recall someone putting up a post about this shop, if anyone has photos of the plants that were in the cage, please read and send the photos if you have them.
Hi facebook friends

I would like to announce. Unfortunately we have had a break in at our nursery. They cracked our locks and got into our cage and stole some of most expensive trees. Not all but half of them.
I have had police notified.
I am asking anyone of you who has been to our nursery and taken photos of our bonsai for sale display area. Particularly the bonsai in the cage.
If you could kindly direct the images to my email. Alexbe.415@gmail.com please as we need these records as we dont have good enough quality pics ourselves.

Also the trees that were stolen was
1 juniper procumbens 50 years old
1 multiple trunk satsuki azalea 60 years old
1 banksia integrifolia 60 years old
3 moreton bay figs all over 50 years old
2 port jackson figs all over 50 years old
1 shimpaku juniper 50 years old
1 willow leaf fig 40 years old smaller but in a quality rect. chinese pot

All trees are mostly large. Well groomed and shaped professionally. These are not simply shaped. The quality of the work on these would be noticeable. the style these trees are shaped in are distinct by our japanese influenced pruning techniques. And distinctive as they are all really old.

As stated it is hard without images. But any help would be grateful.

This really pisses me off. Stealing bonsai is not just stealing trees it's stealing a part of someone's life. It's a very contemptible act by some slimy person who will be condemned to live his life in insignificance.
Good luck to the victim.

I just hope the crooks actually know how to bonsai or these could be dead in a matter of days.

Fingers crossed the trees stay alive until this scum is caught.

Totally agree Mike . They are almost like our children if you have nurtured them for 20 years +. My solution:

1. live in a remote area
2. Have a nasty canine friend
3. 24 hr CCTV
4. Be armed better then some small countries

I think what pisses me off the most is that it appears that the people who went in to steal the trees must have had a list that they nicked, leaving around half...Certainly seems to be a targetted attack.

I understand now why so many people here don't use real names.... :(

Yes. But even better if we can instill into the heads of people with these intentions just how profound an act it is. It's not like stealing a car or a TV. If the people who did it are reading this, It's not to late to do the right thing and return them. Anonymously if you need to. You will get much more out of doing that than the few bucks selling the trees.

Unfortunately when it is your business, you are exposed to some of the scum that walk in and have a look. Then decide to steal them. Usually when it is a large consignment like this it is organised, and the trees are already sold.
We in the west have had this happen quite a bit.

Just have to be more vigilant if possible.

It is sad to think if these damn thieves sell the trees then they will be "successful" and start looking for the next vulnerable collection--- be wary folks. If they are low enough to steal then I doubt they have enough conscience to return them - though I hope so!

What pup said is frightening! I had not considered that they would already be sold, I thought we might find them on gumtree or ebay. Scums!

I would think it would be hard to police, but I’ve seen some bonsai places with “no photography” signs. If you had that and got CCTV then people ignoring the signs would be suspicious and possibly traceable. You may well have those things already. Unfortunately if they’re determined to steal then it can be hard to protect them unless in a fortress and you’re there all the time.
