New pot

Post by kez »

Hey folks,

Thought I'd share this pot that arrived yesterday. I purchased this pot from Sara Rayner over in the states and intend on potting the Juni (not the cascade)I worked on with Ryan into this one in Autumn.

I think it is a beautiful pot, and I am very happy to have something that I hope will do the tree justice. It seems Sara's work is held in very high regard over in the states and perhaps internationally (I'm not 100% across the world of international potters) and I can see why, it is of the highest quality and so was her service, very easy to deal with and I am very much looking forward to purchasing more of her work as I look to pot up other trees.

Hope you all enjoy,

Kerrin

Yeah nice earthy pot, I like it
Although a tree is a thousand Chang in height, its leaves still fall to the ground.

I agree. A very beautiful pot.
Can I ask how much such a pot might cost? And the freight here?
Can't wait to see it with your juniper installed.
After roughly 20 years of growing bonsai, I reckon I might just be starting to get the hang of it...

Will be great to see your tree potted up!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Nice pot.
I have not seen any from Sara in person so maybe one day I will see this on display somewhere
I have purchased pots from P.J. Katich in Florida with great response too.

Thanks folks,

I can't wait to get the tree into it as well, it will be an exercise in patience for sure. I had a bit of a look yesterday at the tree and the pot together as best as I could with the tree currently in a big plastic tub and I was really happy with the combo.

Re. price,

This wasn't cheap, but it is a very high quality handmade pot, and large as well (44.5cmx35cmx8cm). The exchange rate also killed me, adding roughly $100 onto the total cost. The pot itself was about $225us and shipping was $85us.

I felt this time I had the tree to justify this price so for me it wasn't an issue.

Looking forward to updating you all when it's potted up

Yep, a stunning pot for sure. A future collectable. Lots of money though, but hey, why not. it is made to spend.

Hey. That pot you purchased. How much did it cost you? Was it cheaper then buying from bunnings? I'm running low on bigger training pots I only have the smaller ones the trees come in.

No hand crafted pot will ever be cheaper than bunnings.
U can get plastic bonsai looking training pots relatively cheap, or just cut down regular black plastic pots, foam boxes, colanders...there are plenty of choices
