Bonsai Turn table

Hi there...
Have been wanting to make a decent turn table that can hold some weight. Preferably with a metal base and screw lock to keep it in place once in desired position. Have had a look online to purchase one... But they need to be ordered from overseas and are a lot of $$$, not to mention the shipping which seriously breaks the bank. Have had a look on Utube and there's not really anything of quality. Have also looked for bonsai turn table how to plans & haven't had much luck. Was hoping that with the many AusBonsai enthusiasts online there must be quite a few of you who have made your own quality turn tables. If any one is willing to point me in the right direction or has a sketch ( & supplies needed ) that your willing to post it would greatly appreciated.

Get in touch with Grant Bowie he had some in Adelaide. The one I got holds me and I weigh 100 klg.

I imported these Japanese made heavy duty turntables. They can be used outside permanently under big, heavy trees with or without a tile. They are also good for workshop turntables. They do not have a screw stop but the screw underneath can be tightened or loosened to your needs..

I will show you something I built from one of these as well (after I get back from a workshop this morning).

Come on guys, you don't have to spend a penny.
Made this in about 30 mins after finding an old office swivel chair at the side of the road waiting for council pick up. You always see them on garbage day.
Take off the hardware you don't need and castor's, screw on a 50cm sq top from an old kitchen worktop, (local mens shed) and bingo one swivel work table that is at a workable height.
I put a hole through the shaft to locate a pin through for locking. If you find one which has a gas lift that works, even better. You will then have adjustable height.
Weight capacity at least 100 kilo.

Under the tree while it is sitting on the bench will it last? OK in the workshop, but not on the bench.

I have an office chair to sit at the turntable with. I have a couple of these, some with wooden tops too. I can easily sit on these so they hold 100kg plus. Easy enough to put a stop on it too but I've found I don't need to.

OK,

I took one of the 40cm x 30cm turntables; 3 bamboo chopping boards from the reject shop; hinged the chopping boards together with continuous or piano hinges; screwed the bottom board to the plastic turntable and voila.

Only suitable for smaller trees, no stop screw, still need to finalise chocking method and stops, will add 2 handles close to where the piano hinge sticks out a bit to prevent injury/scratches to me, and a method for fixing the chocking in place.

The top has bits of wood screwed onto the edge to hold the tree on the board and I have more pieces to make sure every tree is centred on the board for stability.

Now I just need time to work on the tree.
