Re: Turntable project
Others have made these before Wal, and even posted here. There's a couple of pages when you do 'Chair' and 'Turntable' search - search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&keywords=%2Bc ... urntable++
As a couple have noted in some of those threads, Chair turntables are good but without a brake to hold the turntable in one place, it can be a little harder to work on the tree.

Re: Turntable project
It is also very hard to adjust the height down - they are made to have the weight of a person on them. You cannot push them down with a tree on them

Re: Turntable project
Hi Wal
Mate I've got one, use it for the larger bonsais. Made the turntable out of treat pine decking, square or round doesn't matter, mainly because it lives outside. Could use CD ply its tough and a bit moisture resist. Oh and take the castors off so doesn't runaway with the plant.....hey did a diddle
Cheers RodM

Re: Turntable project
I'm no builder, isnt it possible to drill a hole in the post and use a L bolt type thing to lock it of to stop it turning?
That was suggested to me when I looked at one on a Club sale day.
Cheers

Re: Turntable project
top stuff, I love recycling
Re the casters, I find they ddo not move too much when you have a siseable tree on them.
The free spinning op is more of a pain but if its level mostly thats OK too.

Re: Turntable project
You can also put a small carpet off cut under it, that and the weight of a tree will stop the castors doing a runner.
