Am I a Potaholic?

Post by Watto »

There is a silly rumor going around that I am a mad bonsai pot collector (mmm, maybe I should change the subject?) but I would counter that it is just normal. And to prove my point here are a few recent acquisitions.

Ditto for me.
You realise this when you have way more pots than trees.

Is being a potaholic a bad thing? Probably not great on the wallet ... but good on the eye.

I am a fan of the Yamafusa and the Hewartson within this selection.
Tending bonsai teaches me patience.

Hey Watto,
I think there is likely many potaholics out there (most probably very very ashamed & staying in the closet)

As I understand it - Being a potaholic - its a 12 x step recovery programme.
Stage 1 - Denial
Stage 2 - Recognising you "may" have a problem.
Stage 3 - "Oh.. that one looks good...."
Stage 4 - Self-Reassurance (one more can't hurt -it will definitely come in handy in the near future(?)
stages 5 to 10 - BUY! BUY! BUY!
Stage 11 - Reflection (or the 'Put & Look" stage)
Stage 12 - Repeat Stages 2 to 5. ;)

I only have 17 x "spare" pots at the moment - my outdoor "Autumn / Winter" collection.
My indoor "spare" pot collection - I keep in the shed! (Did someone mention walk-in robe with revolving shelving? )

Yes recovery has been difficult Mel, but I'm sticking to the programme. I'm just taking it "one day at a time". :D

Thankyou MJL, I am quite attached to the Yamafusa. It is interesting that it does not have a chop, just the makers signature. I don't know if that is significant, but I like it.

I just saw a crab container on Hong Kong Bonsai pots site....with a similar chop. I've asked if they can identify the artist.. The comment with it just says it's an old Japanese made pot.

A quick count puts me at 23 on the shelves, I plan on potting one up this summer finally.
Exciting!
