I just set up some Giant Moss (Dawsonia sp.) in a agate geode and a another in an hollow ironstone nut. Dawsonia is a native moss that grows in rainforest reaching about 5cm. The ones pictured are about 3cm. I have them growing up through gravel at the water tank so I harvest a few here and there.

It's a beautiful moss. (like tiny conifers) They use a similar sp in Japan as a ground cover. It also grows wild in the wind-swept granite country just Nth of Melbourne together with a rock fern in very exposed postions. I found it hard to establish though.

Love the one in the age geode. As a rock collector as well as a bonsai artist I can appreciate the combining of the two. Has given me lots of inspiration.
