Hi Guys,

Thought I would share some of my photos from a recent work trip to Japan that I managed to work quite a bit of bonsai viewing into... I took a lot of photos and visited the nurseries of Fujikawa Kouka-en, Koju-en and of Omiya bonsai village (Saitama city), as well as the Omiya bonsai museum and the gardens of Kato-san, Koboyashi-san and Kimura-san.

First installment will be of my visit to Fujikawa Kouka-en near Osaka and was the first nursery I visited on my trip. This is a pretty difficult nursery to find and my tip if you want to get there by yourself is to get the metro train to Kita-itami station and walk to the nearby homewares centre to have someone call you a cab. Have the nurseries address in Japanese and it shouldn't cost you more than about 1000 yen (a bit more than 10 dollars). The nursery will call a cab for you to return to the station.

Anyway, the pictures. Sorry about the quality. I am by no means a photographer. I hope you enjoy them anyway.

The following trees are from a different area of the nursery that was reserved for clients trees. The quality of the trees back there was much better but it was pretty cramped making it hard to capture photos of entire trees from their intended fronts.

Thats it for now. Next post I will upload pictures of my visit to Koju-en shohin nursery in Kyoto.

Cheers guys,

Ces.

Hey Ces, well done, looks like you enjoyed yourself, went there myself early this year, got stuck in the worst snow storm in 10 years, excellent adventure.
Bet you are already planning another trip?
