Places of bonsai interest in Kuala Lumpur?

Post by Kigawa »

Can someone suggest places of bonsai interest in Kuala Lumpur? I looked up some bonsai nurseries on the Internet, but it could be good to get tips from someone who had been there. I am keen on visiting bonsai nurseries, public bonsai displays, Chinese or Japanese gardens, bonsai pot dealers, etc. A local bonsai contact could be good as well. Any suggestions are welcome.

I went to KL earlier this year and had a bit of trouble finding good bonsai nurseries. Thats even with local help from my Girl friend and her family. The ones I did go to mostly had huge ficus/figs that were not very refined. Her auntie did mention one place we didn't get to go to, I will check where it is and the name for you. Most of the nurseries we did visit we a bit of a drive.

Thanks a lot for your replies Dumper and Nick-laing. I actually lived in Penang for several years and visited some bonsai growers, saw some impressive trees in temples and in private collections. It was 12 years ago and I wasn’t doing bonsai at that time. This time however, I am going to be in KL only for 3 days and I never attempted to see any bonsai there. I don’t use Facebook much and as you can see from my late reply to you, I am not a frequent user of AusBonsai either. I’ll try to find you on Facebook Dumper and would appreciate any info. Thanks
