New Stone from the pilbara

Post by Pup »

This stone is like sandstone to look at, not being a geologist I am not sure, but it does remind me of the coastline around one of the best and dangerous fishing spots in WA.

Quobba Station just north of Carnarvon, I hope you like it as much as I do. This stone will not go in a diaza, but I will look for a slightly larger and better Suiban tray.

Cheers Pup

Yep, I can clearly see Cape Cuvier in this one Pup - almost see those big sharks chasing schools of bait fish at the base!

Thanks for sharing Pup, Quobba Station has a special place in my heart. We spent several weeks there when we travelled OZ. I was amazed by the balloon fishing they did there. We snorkelled with some amazing fish and coral. You are right, that rock mimics the coastline along there well. I so wish I had collected rocks as we travelled. Saw some amazing stuff in the outback.

The only Mackerel I saw caught there was a head only. The sharks got the rest in one bight. I remember them catching a big trevally and cut it up for bait. They complained about catching it as it was rubbish fish :palm:

Hi ya Mo, yes that is white sand, next time when I see a feather when walking pup I will pick it up it makes combing the sand so much easier.

Might be a place for a little Lepto in the hollow in the front one day Pup. Thanks for posting - it's very evocative.
