I particularly like the little semi cascade Shohin in the bright blue pot =)

thats a good call on the one in the blue pot nath!

i didnt realise how much potential rosemary had as bonsai. they are some wickedly twisted trunks which looks like deadwood too

i like how the trunks have similar characteristics to juniper deadwood:D
i might have to get my hands on one of these!!

kcpoole you got a beauty there mate,I've got one i'm working with, been trying to train it for two years, i repotted it last month i like this pot. This one came from a garden bed too. Branchs snap very easy which can be a set back and on the other hand it tolerates a long hot day which is good in a drought. Hope you like this one, cheers

Well they are easy to find, you might even get some decent starters from the discard dept of the nurseries, sometimes they toss out quite advanced ones. They age pretty quickly too, easy to get an old look from quite a young plant.
The pink flowered variety tends to self layer, so may be very easy to find a big self rooted cutting from one of these.

OK Ken, its all your fault. I was so impressed with your new dig I had to get one too. I am now suffering from all sorts of aches and pains because this rosemary was in a difficult spot, and I'm not as young and flexible as I once was. Not as good as yours, but it is another one up the back for later consideration.

This thread is encouraging me to try and lift mine. Our 'dormant' season is just starting so I might start by cutting back and ring pruning the roots in situ in preparation for an all out attack in early spring 2010.

Sadly, no, none of those rosemary are mine. I wish the little one was though, i can't stop looking at it hehe.I saw some very similar in Japan though when I was there. Maybe next time I should try and bring some back?

I am glad you got that picture Psymo. I spent some time today admiring this tree thinking that it is probably not really very old but at the same time pleasing to view. The artist has done a good job the tree looks extremely healthy and the two trees in my garden are very much in danger of becoming bonsai. A simple tree but highly inspirational.
