New (to me) PK Pots

Post by dansai »

I recently did a trip to Sydney and dropped by Bonsai Art run by the Bennetts. Megummi's husband told me Megummi was selling off some of her personal collection of pots. I acquired some Tokoname pots and these 2 Pat Kennedy pots. They had beautiful glazes I have not seen on PK pots and one had a very unique shape. If you see this Pat, I'ld love a little history and some information on the design on the second one particularly.

The first one from 2 different angles

And the second. It looks to me like a Japaneses bowl with a place for chopsticks. Not sure how to plant something in it though.

Iron reds, bone ash and the like? Chun glaze over the top? Lovely glazes.

Thanks Dansai , I can't add to Gavin's take on the glazes...(he knows his stuff), but I can throw some light on the peculiar shaped pot....it's my take on a Japanese water bucket!!

Both are beautiful pots pat. Any idea how old they may be? Both look unused and in mint condition.

Clearly we're not married yet Pat, but if you vote the right way there's always a chance... That should put you off for life.
