Anyone attempted to make......

Post by Duckbed »

For all the potters out there, has any one attempted to make a bonsai pot this big?

http://www.flowerpictures.net/bonsai/pages/bonsai-1.htm

I would be interested in any ideas/feedback people might have.... I'm assuming these are slip cast which means building one big mould and Finding a Kiln big enough would be just one of the problems. :o

Wondering if any one has attempted hand building a giant and if they would share how they went about it!

Cheers

I'm sorry Duckbed but I couldn't see any measurements to go with the pot and it was difficult to try to figure out the actual size not knowing the size of the tree either. Can you let me know the measurements?
Ron Lang from the US makes large pots which he wood fires. I do know there are two articles of him and his pots in Bonsai Today.

You can buy them in Australia. I just purchased a large pot 1 metre wide by 800mm from a chinese bonsai importer called Simon.

Its the orient garden bonsai nursery in Thomastown Melbourne. They are ridiculously cheap too. less than $ 200- and good quality.

Hope this question generates some interest I guess the pot is 600cm+++.
Maybe someone has seen a YouTube video showing the size limitations on a slip cast piece of work. Maybe it was pressed into a mold .. have seen many pot demo on YouTube but not these hope you get some feedback.
Cheers

Talking to the guy who works at bonsai north, i commented on a pot there that was about 40inches long and like 18 inches wide and about 8 inches deep, saying wow big pot. He lol'd and said he has had some that you could take a bath in. :aussie:

I love the Vietnamese sized bonsai landscapes, i just dont have enough room for them
