Hi Bonsailov,

May well be made from paper clay, I have used it and the results after firing resembled egg carton consistency.

If you want some REALLY nice pots, then Erin Bonsai has some awesome ones. Made in the UK, but worth the shipping...

Paper clay is used all the time, it lightens the weight of the piece . there is nothing wrong with it , as long as it is fired to the correct temperature.

Hi Joannm, What temps are we talking about for Paper Clay? I'd always assumed paper clay was similar to earthenware but have never used it.

Penny Davis from Mudlark Pottery (Hunter Valley) will ship (and packs extremely well). Sometimes advertises here abouts using the handle Mudlarkpottery

If you lurk in Pots, Benches, and Stands you will find that there are a number of potters on the forum who sell their wares (eg. Happy Potter

Finally, while I'm not from SA, I'd be shocked if there wasn't a bonsai nursery with an online presence there.

In WA there's Peter Odin's Bonsai Emporium fer example

Very nice. I think I'll give it a go. I'm about to move again and will finally be able to set up my studio after almost 12 months. Very Excited.!
