A Plea to our Aussie Potters

Watto, to you I am sorry for what has gone on here,it was not my intention for this to happen.

I have been doing ceramics for 30 years.
As I said I mainly do glazed Shohin and mini"s.
So thought I would also put up the type of work I do.


I am sure you will get what you want from the talented Happy Potter.

Agree! Especially the hand painted ones. I imagine there is a lot more work in those but it's something Aussie bonsai needs more of.

Joann - I certainly haven't taken any of the comments in a negitive way. From my limited experience I think that many of the glazed Aussie made pots are fantastic, but there is a dearth of unglazed pots. There are a few Pommie potters who make unglazed pots (Gordon Duffet and John Pitt come to mind) that look great and it was just a suggestion that there is the talent in Aus to make similar pots, and of course those pots would sell to us bonsai growers.
If there is a problem with the types and quality of the clay available then that could be a good reason but I think there is a market (even if it is small) for this type of pot. I for one would be interested. If you have a good tree in a one off Aussie made pot, then that is value adding to the overall quality when displayed at exhibition (or maybe at the National Collection?).
Just this year I have bought pots from Pat Kennedy, Penny Davis, Janet Salby, ? Simpson from Victoria, Lynette, Melissa Beowulf, Bonsai Pots by Graham, and probably a couple more, however everyone was glazed.
Ziggy - I wouldn't presume to copy others, but to make one off unique unglazed pots would be great.

I think there is a Lorraine Simpson making pots in Victoria - that's probably the name you were looking for.

Now I know that's not everybody's creedo but it ticks all the boxes for me. And what does it all mean? Well, I just want to make my pots and leave the Japanese pots to others, preferably the Japanese!

My most treasured pots are those made by you, Penny from Mudlark pottery and Janet Selby.

Aussie potters make the best pots for Aussie trees.

Do you get to advertise her in this forum or do you have your own web site?
I really like the rustic cream pot in the first page! I love the fact that Ozzies strike out on their own and can't wait to have the skill to be able to display 'my' tree in one of these outstanding pots! I don't much like the standard blue/green glazed rectangular/oval pots or those with the blue motives, but that's just me...
