My wife is tinkering with the idea of doing some kind of beginner's pottery course, and was hoping she might be able to produce something useful by the end of it.... Never one to miss an opportunity, I suggested she could make a pot or two for my trees - which she thought was a great idea!
Having suggested this, I have no idea if that is even possible as part of a pottery course and a quick look online came up with more questions than answers so I was just wondering if anybody here has experience or can recommend a potting course for novices, preferably in or close to inner city Melbourne, preferably one that has the potential for a bonsai pot at the end
Any suggestions appreciated!

Re: Pottery Courses?
Hi Ryceman3,
This is the first time I have posted as I can't comment about trees being a total novice (!!) but pots I can.... a lot of the TAFE's have either closed or are in the process of closing down their ceramics programs. Some Community Houses do run courses although many of them will only use and fire earthenware clay so your wife may need to make enquiries first if she wants to use stoneware.
She can also make enquiries, however, at some of the following places who do run pottery courses...
Northcote Pottery

There are a number of potters who teach classes too - Gary Healy in Balwyn springs to mind - 0468 814 431
Camberwell Community Centre run classes, and I believe Jill Anderson still runs classes at Glen Eira College.
There are bound to be lots more but these sprung to mind....
Hope that helps

Awesome, thanks MadPotter!
That's a nice spread of options and a good place for her to start making some enquiries.
Very helpful indeed!
