Hi Pat, I'm intrigued, why/how is it altered?
Cheers

nice,
Did you trim each divot or hammered to get the texture?

Beautiful, Pat. You've still used the ash glaze, if I am right (not sure from which wood), but you've got a step closer to the texture of some kinds of bark.

Hi Kirky ... it's altered because it's hard to throw an oval pot, and secondly, I played around with the texture :)

Ken... all hammered!!!

Thanks, Peter

Lisa, lovely to hear from you. The glaze is a dry limestone glaze, sprayed from an acute angle to try for shadows, however....

I camped at Wee Jasper a few weeks ago and my fire was all casuarina timber. I collected the ash before I left and this is the glaze that developed from that ash. It still needs some tweaking but it's showing lots of promise. I'm showing the little test pot upside-down to better show the glaze.....and, before you ask, I didn't catch any fish :(

Cheers, Pat

Agree with Marie, the glaze is beautiful on the little pot! Also like your original pot!

I watched this video the other day, so at least understand a little about what you're talking about. https://ceramic.school/phil-rogers-pottery/

Watching Steven's demonstration at the AABC Convention also opened my eyes. I certainly have a much better appreciation of how much you potters do to enrich our lives now.

Very sweet test pot Pat.
So a lot of ash and a little Feldspar, Clay and Silica?

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks, Pat. I can't see either what there is to tweak, IMHO it's quite a powerful toning - pardon that weird expression, I don't know how else to put it. And you DID get the shadows. As for missing out on the fish: you can't have everything! ;) Bless you for trying lots of different things as they cross your path. BTW, I wonder what kind of ash fish scales would give? :D
All the best!

Lisa
