Hi Lindsay, very hard to make out the initials But it could be Trevor Wheeler. He is a Potter in Newstead and writes the newsletter for Goldfields Bonsai Society. Give him a try

I bought a pot from a gentleman that worked out of Bungendore about 20 years ago, and the initials on the pot are SJW and the number 640.
May or may not be associated, but I cannot remember his name unfortunately. If I get an opportunity to take a photo of the base of the pot tomorrow I will post a copy.

Thanks for that information. It will be interesting to see if the potters marks match.
Wen I first sighted these pots I thought that they were made by Jack Tripovitch because they seem to be constructed from brick clay. Jack was a Melbourne bonsai leader of the past who worked at a brick kiln in Middleborough rd, Burwood. He often fired bonsai pots in the brick kiln where he worked. I think that Ted Poynton has some large pots from Jack.
It's difficult to know.

Lindsay - the potters marks are diffferent, but the marks may have changed over time. The pot I have is about 25 years old and is quite "refinded". Will take a couple of photos on Saturday and post them. Unfortunately I haven't had time - work is still interferring with my social life.

I'm now almost certain that it is a Jack Tripovitch pot.
I have another pot with the some distinctive rectangular drainage holes that is constructed in the same no fuss style.
The initials are JT 79.
I'll pic and post soon.

I think it was Bruce Finley? or something like that in Bungendore. Ray Nesci would remember as Ray made some VERY RED pots years ago and Finley? was in Sydney back then; late 1970s.

What I remeber of Finleys pots was light colour clay and interesting glazes.

There was another pot akin to the one shown but it's reddish

I had hidden it away as it was one of the broken then repaired pots.
The initials seem to be J.E.T 79
I think that they are both Jack Tripovich pots

The W that can be seen at the end of the signiature may represent the Waverly Bonsai Tribe.
Jack was an active partricipant.

Sorry, I know its an old thread, just just stumbled upon this. J.E.T signature is Jack Elias Tripovitch. You surprise me with your knowledge Lindsay.
Made from brick clay from the old Nu brick factory in Middlebrough rd Burwood Melbourne.
