Unknown Wattle

G’day everyone!
My wife volunteers at the local National Park and as a perk, can take home tube stock they may have an excess of.
I liked the look of this one labeled “Acacia”
It has a nice pendulous growth (which I’ve capitalised on) and accentuated with wiri.
It’s bounced back with gusto after quite a heavy reduction in roots (at least by half)
and back buds readily when pruned.
What’s got me stumped though is it’s white paperbark. I can’t find any reference to Acacias with this type of bark.
Any ideas??

nice looking specimen mate, my only guess to what species it MAY be or what could of happened is that its been mislabeled as an Acacia when in fact its looking more like a Melaleuca species? Could be wrong. Where abouts in Aus are you?

Definitely not acacia. Could be mela or lepto.

I too think it’s a Melaleuca..maybe not Leptospernum as it took quite
a considerable root pruning on both occasions and didn’t bat an eyelid!
The search continues...

Callistemon? Foliage and buds look very Calli to me.
Flowers will help identify.
