Anyone recognise this tree??

Hi all - I don't actually know if I'm going against the rules of the forum, but here goes.....

I was looking over some websites and found this amazing tree that is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. I just fell in love with it.

It is from the website http://artofbonsai.org/feature_articles ... ciples.php

....and is below. Does anyone know:

1. has this tree been in any publications at all?

2. What type of tree it is?

3. Where it's from, collection, styled by etc?

It seems too good to be just an 'unknown' tree. There appears to be a haze around the far edges suggesting that it may have come from some sort of publication perhaps....

Does anyone share my view??

Cheers

Stew

Hi Stewart,

after doing a google search on Steven Polan, I found this beneath the tree`s picture.
steven_polan_2[1].jpg
Robert Steven
Robert brought this material from China, where they call it "Po Lan" but he can not find the botanical name. It is from common nursery material.
"The physical condition of these two trees are not that "good" with many scars; so I combined them for another windswept to eliminate the defective features."

I have tried to search for the Botanical identification of the tree as well, but have not found any refrences as yet.

I will keep you posted if I find something.

Regards,

Paul.

He has his own website, which has a bit more detail on his tree's... although this one isn't on there: https://robert-steven.ofbonsai.org/gallery/

The one on the white marbel is: Dyospiros montana. Length: 120 cm

I'll be taking pictures for my club as well, so will be sure to share them all here. Have signed up for both workshops, so will hopefully have quite a bit to share :fc: Set to be a massive weekend, I'm really excited
