Vertical Panorama of a Giant Redwood

Ok, so generally we are talking about photographing bonsai but this really is at the opposite end of the scale!
Wildlife photographer Michael Nichols wanted to photograph a 1500 year old, 300-foot-tall (91.5 meter) Redwood in a dense forest with no clear lines of sight. So he built a custom camera rig to take close-ups and then stitched them together.

The result is a stunning composite of 83 different shots of this incredible tree.

If you are loking for a good poster there is a huge foldout of the image in the October 09 issue of National Geographic.

Hey why does it have 3 trunks and two start half way up the trunk? The rules don't allow for that :lol:

speaking of the redwood, man i love these as bonsai. they are awesome, great butressing in the trunks.

i bought a starter swamp cypress because i couldnt get a redwood :D

Hummm. I saw 4 men in red jackets and 2 others. Am I the only one here that see them?

I can see the four in red, but I'm not so sure that yellow thing at the top is a man - and can't see the other one you're referring to Kvan.

kvan, at first i thought you were seeing things, so i took the pic and enlarged it and sure enough there's 4 red jackets and 1 yellow up near the top, but i dont see the 6th man??? Good spotting mate :D Awesome tree Craig
