I found this Callistemon elliptica in a huge pot cast aside in a garden nursery. I had to pull in out of the pot and remove a lot of the soil mass on site. The roots were very healthy looking and I reduced them by a least 60%.

I know to keep it well watered for now,

Anyone got any styling advice? Or after care?

Photos are terrible I will clean it out and remove all the dead stuff and try and get better photos.

Sorry Paul. I don't know this species.
Some mels are really easy to transplant but others don't seem to like having roots cut. Please keep us informed whichever way this one goes.

The bark looks almost plastic and white.

Thanks shibui, hopefully it lives.

The leaves repel water like off a ducks back.

I left a dence root ball but I did remove a lot of roots as it was in a massive pot. The pot was on the dry side when I pulled it out. Its a wonder it lived for so long in that big pot neglected at the nursery.

Interesting to note that the leaves are hydrophobic; I have a Spirea and some weeks back I noticed how the water beaded and rolled off the leaves - which is what caused me to look up it up. Anyway - that’s a side note - fingers crossed that your interesting tree survives the repotting.
