Rescued this Casuarina last year and now looking for style ideas. It has a trunk about 25mm with a 90 deg bend. All ideas welcome Cheers Peter

I might be boring (and obvious) but the only option that sticks out to me is to use one of the two verticals as your new leader and to carve or Jin the rest.
Idea should result in taper and interest.

I'd go for something like this.

I'm not sure how casuarina would train as windswept/ waterswept but that's what the trunk is suggesting to me.
I remember seeing casuarinas in the gorges of North NSW with impressive flood debris way up the trunks and damage to trunks and branches which prompted me to mention this as a possibility. Anyone with experience of these where they grow along the big rivers and gorges?

Not a casuarina, but an extremely old native none the less...maybe this is the kind of thing Shibui is describing?

You could always grow and style it like the Indonesians do by keeping the foliage short to look like pads on a pine, then you can probably work a windswept look into it.

Amazing trees but kind of defeats the point of having a Casuarina in the first place.

Sorry about the FB link for those who don't have it. Also I'm fairly sure Dorothy and Vita's book mentions Casuarinas and was in print prior to 85 so some info in the link may be misleading.
