The melealeuca is not mine, there was a strong opinion amongst the group to leave it naturally coloured.
Personally I would like to see it blackened because it looks to be very recent damage to the trunk when it is left natural.

Gerard, please tell the owner it is very nice to see the changes, and his mark on the tree. The reason I burn mine is to preserve the wood, as in our natives tool making. They burn the wood to make it hard so it will penetrate the skin.

It is on again,
Fourth Monday of the month is our regular club meeting.
This year it is Australia Day
It is also a public holiday but the meeting will go ahead in a very Australian theme.
New members and visitors are welcome to come along. Meetings are held at 8pm on the fourth Monday of each month except December at the Main Hall, East Kew Uniting Church, 142 Normanby Rd, East Kew, 3102( Melways45H3 ).

I think this year the demonstration trees will be leptospermum and banksia.

Well done to all the artists!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful
