After the recent discussion on collecting natives, thought I'd post up this mornings effort! I think I've been hanging around Josh too much!















Yeah they're a bit big! But I'd only previously seen them from the car(they looked smaller) and all I had to do was rock up with the trailer and take them away. Not sure they'll survive or what I'll do with them if they do, but there they are

Mate they are monsters. What an awesome opportunity. Whether they survive or not will have to wait and see but they have a better chance now than if you hadn't taken them.
Will love seeing these develop. Soooo how are you going to get them along to a workshop night

that's...... big. Wow, now whether it will make good stock or whether it survives or not is beside the point, A+ for effort and saving an otherwise goner.

Ambitious Always worth trying if all you need is a trailer. There could be some impressive carving in that trunk.

Not getting that far ahead yet Josh! LOL.. Not sure how these guys cope with collecting, especially at this size. They were in sandy soil and appear to have plenty of fine roots, so you never know. If they don't survive then at least I have some free firewood!

There were a bunch of similar ones just up the road from these 2 that got mulched a year or so ago, before I could find the right people to talk to. Those ones were much better, a lot smaller, nice character and taper - better suited to bonsai. Was a bit disappointed when I drove past and saw them gone. When it looked like these guys were going I decided to grab them anyway just in case they would be ok, they are a lot bigger than I'd anticipated though!

Way to go! [FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND COLD SWEAT]Are they littoris? Looks like plenty of branches to work with anyway. If they don't make it consider using the timber despite the size as the grain is very attractive...used in wood turning etc.

Now they are some decent tree! Good luck finding a clay pot

Those are amazing! Wouldn't know where you'd go from here but, like you said, they gotta survive first...
Then I'd guess you have to develop your 'Carving'skills and may be import a couple of those monstrous pots from China or Vietnam ... Plop them on them from lawn
Looking forwards to what you'll do with them.

Looks like the kids lost their sand pit!
Nothing ventured nothing gained... I too was thinking Littoralis which for some reason I tend to have less trouble with in Melb than say Torulosa so I like your chances ... Where to from here though - looking forward to finding out. Good luck...

Geez Jason, is that what we need to do to get you to come along to our digs?? Not sure we could get one of those 'SPADES' in Yea!!
It will be interesting to see how they go and see their progression.
