Just got this today from a friend who wanted it gone from her

picture isn't showing for me mate.

As soon as I posted it showed on the screen. Weird.

I was thinking of cutting along the red line to make the side branch the new leader.

Or just getting rid of the small chopped branch at the fron of this pick. Thoughts?

My fault mate, i was not entering the correct code.

I think I would chop all the smaller trunks off and just leave the main trunk. Perhaps use that small branch on the left as your first branch and wait to see where it shoots for other branches/new leader and go from there.

I just had a better look at the tree in real life and think your suggest is on point. I was pretty rough when digging it up. Leaving minimal roots so im she survives

I would be just letting it grow first to see where it shoots, then worry about further chopping. You could even use one of those smaller branches as a first low branch or second trunk?

Too late...

I wasn't necessarily meaning straight away but more where I would be going with it. Though now it's done it can't hurt it all that much more than the initial chop if was done today or very recently.

It was one of my original ideas for the tree anyway. I have a decent idea already of how i want the tree to look. I cant wait for it to start growing

A little bit of an update i gave my lilly pilly a little bit of a trim this morning to start to focus on trunk and branch development

It has certainly put on some growth and that is good. Try not to "over work" it until it regains some more strength. If you let branches extend quite a lot then the taper will be improved. You have the basis of an interesting bonsai but don't rush it.

I agree, i only trimmed back some of the growth because it had put out so much, i plan to not touch it for at least a year now the new leader is in a perfect position.
these things back bud like crazy.

Update time. So since my last post i just let this grow and grow.
Today i decided i would give this tree a little haircut. And repot.
