Lophostemon grandiflorus - Tiddilik

Post by wattynine »

Tiddilik is a legendary frog from aboriginal dreamtime that drank up a river.
This I found on one of my customers properties and in a seasonal flooding river.
The first time I saw it is was in a dry river bed like it had drunk it up, when I went back to collect I was in ankle deep water as it had spat all back out again just like the legend.
so presenting Tiddilik......
As it was when first found, you can see I've pushed some surrounding earth down to expose what roots were there and the done some bush root enhancement with coarse sand and dry grass for collection later.

and now collected and standing in the creek that only 3 months before was dry

and to the operating table;

and into a pot;

This now has exploded with new shoots 2 months after "capture" so far all I have done is now wired down the extended old shoots as they are quite brittle when older and snap when bending.
Really looking forward to putting some structure into this we'll see how my patience is on this one. will I wait 2 years? :lol: watch this space.
thanks for reading
