I came across a couple of these at the Victorian Native Bonsai Show on the weekend. They looked really interesting and I'm keen to get my hands on some. Does anyone know any nurseries in Victoria where they are available for sale?

After a little trawl through the internet, looking at places I'd rather be and things I'd rather be doing, I found these results.

https://www.bluemountains.org.au/nursery.shtml - No mail order. Maybe you can reach there, or call and arrange mail order.

https://www.conifer.com.au/our-products ... itzgeradii - Out of stock.
https://www.yaminarareplants.com.au/sea ... crostrobos - Out of stock.
Different name for the same plant. You can call and ask where they source stock.

https://sequoiavalleyfarms.com.au/mount-mawson-pine/ - Not the species you were asking for. But maybe this one is good enough. This business seems to offer reasonable prices for rare plants mailed to you.

EDIT: Also, many native nurseries are weakly integrated with the Google internet search. Meaning they don't spring to the top of a directly relevant search. Maybe it's intentional by Google to stop SEO exploits. Anyway, point is a more manual search through any and every native nursery website might result in a chance discovery.

I found the Blue Mountains nursery too. They may not do mail order but maybe one of our Ausbonsai members nearby would be good enough to pick some up and post them to Melbourne.
Trees post really easily. Just wrap in a plastic bag, in a tight box so they don't move around and post express.
Send JimmyTheSkip a PM or post here if you're in that area and could help.

Maybe try Hugh Grant @ Treemakers, I've seen some at his nursery in the past and I believe he does mail order.

I got a larger one from Wariapendi Native Nursery a couple of years back that I found hidden down the back, maybe they have some smaller stock - I think they also do mail order.

Otherwise they root very easily from cuttings, you could try to reach out to the owner/Vic Native club and see if you can score some cuttings next time the tree gets a trim.

Not much help, but Blue Mountains, Mt Annan & Domain Botanical Gardens propagate them and gardens 'Growing Friends' (volunteer org.) often have tubestock for sale.

Just another thought, I suspect there might be some available in Tassie too. Could be worth doing a search of Tasmanian nurseries. Perhaps Jarryd Bailey can help. https://www.montanebonsai.com/

I had one for a while, although I failed to keep it alive. It's a very strange and confusing plant to look after. It would look like it was dying and then suddenly undergo a growth spirt out of nowhere.

It liked very wet soil, which makes sense given its natural environment. When I got it from the nursery, the tiny pot it was in had no drainage holes - in fact, they had lined a regular seedling container with a balloon to keep the water in. Growth was very slow and prostrate. It wasn't very satisfying which is probably why I neglected it enough to kill it.
