This was purchased in late 2016 and was about 2cm thick at the base.
It has the most lovely twisted growth. I cut the roots back heavily upon purchase and I have only cut back a few times.
I've basically just been letting it do its thing. I allow the roots to grow into the ground then cut them back about every 6 months.

Love the trunks on these banksias. I have an old one in the garden that I'm attempting to airlayer at the moment. If the top doesn't make it I'll try to dig out the stump, as it's starting to lift some paving bricks close to it.
