Sir Treeman. do you think something like this will be ok for Azalea.pine.maple and prunus nigra?treeman wrote:Osmocote. And all the varieties are basically the same.

Re: Slow Release Bonsai Fertilizer Pellets
I don't know. Isn't it funny that manufactures make it difficult to find the product label so we can decide for ourselves instead of spewing all that exaggerated crap on their containers and in their videos and promotions.
I want to see the analysis. That's all I want to see and that's all I need to see!
The dumbing down of the industry is really irritating. You can't get decent products anymore.
If you're old enough you might remember McEwens which was purchased by Bunnings. I used to be able to get ammonium nitrate there. Now because they are afraid of bombs they no longer sell it (to the public)
Now I make my own.....

Re: Slow Release Bonsai Fertilizer Pellets
I read on here somewhere should be using slow release fertilizer with trace elements is this still correct?
I have seen this in Bunnings and wanted to use it but i pulled out, if you do buy it let us know how you go with it if you can.
Cheers George

In my experience they aren't all the same. Osmocote releases slowly, some of the cheap stuff disappears very rapidly indeed. I've had no losses from overdosing, but I won't buy cheap again.

Re: Slow Release Bonsai Fertilizer Pellets
NPK = 11:1.2:12 which is pretty standard. No mention of trace elements and only 'up to' 5 months release so nutrients will all be released by December if you pot up in August.
Some other brands have longer release periods which should feed your plant for the entire growing season.
Ken also has a good point on nutrient dumping. The earlier coatings broke down in heat and released all the nutrient at once. Newer coatings resist that but there is no mention whether this one uses original coatings or more advanced type. I assume that they would not be using the older system but who can tell with the real lack of info as Treeman points out
I'm happy to use Powerfeed liquid but think I'll stick to osmocote for controlled release.
