wire marks
I have a couple of trees with obvious wire marks -- does anybody have method of hiding, removing, accentuating these?--on some I have roughened the bark and that helps on the not so deep cuts--I presume time doesn't heal all wounds and some species are easier to fix than others

Re: wire marks
Hi Tgward,
I assume you mean the thin bark species like maples, azalea etc. because I do have a couple that
I think won't outgrow their marks. I am trying to hide with foliage when possible or thinking of putting in grow beds for
some ???? years. Maybe some free growing will help them out grow unsightly marks?
The junipers and figs for example out grow the wire marks very well and on occasion even benefit from the extra texture IMO
I'm finding that with thin bark trees you just got to be careful and check regularly. That I haven't always done
Its one reason I love figs and rough bark trees they easily hide my mistakes.
cheers

Re: wire marks
Maples and the like take a vary long time ( if ever ) to grow out.
Cut them back and regrow usually quicker I think.
