Over 300 trees here.

With weeds , just a pair of scissors and cut where root and plant join [ normally
no regeneration possible ].
Does not interfere with the soil and the roots rot, feed back into the soil.
Weed top goes to the compost heap becomes soil component.
Laters.

unless you have hundreds of pots, hand weeding gives you a chance to get up close and personal with your bonsai and grower pots-and see how the trunk base and nebari are developing.also helps to see the soil mix dampness

You hand weeder guys must not get Oxalis or Starweed, I hit mine with glyphosate when it starts getting a bit out of hand.

There are a few weeds that I cannot get on top of by hand weeding - oxalis, starweed, wahlenbergia. If couch or sorrel gets in they also grow back from any roots left behind after weeding. There are some that produce seeds when very small so they spread before I realise they are even there - petty spurge, that ground hugging euphorbia, flick weed.
I hand weed where possible but paint glyphosate onto weeds mentioned above that are out of hand. Glyphosate does not enter through the roots so as long as you don't get it onto the leaves of your trees the tree will be fine but weeds are dead. Repeat treatment of oxalis may be needed to get a good kill. Then you need to monitor for new seeds germinating and get them before they can produce more seed.
Sprayon Personal insect repellent (aerogard) kills weeds (other brands also seem to work despite the active being different). Weeds begin to wilt in just a few minutes after spraying. I have only tried it a couple of times but it does not seem to have affected the tree in the pot however I would be careful not to spray it on the leaves of your tree. Not sure whether it will kill the hardy perennials like oxalis though.

Aeroguard knocks them over ,or just use a small paint brush dipped in roundup,I grow native orchids and been doing either way for years,no problems. :tu:

I decided to try this yesterday. It works very well on broad leaf varieties. I have tonnes of oxalis so I realise it will take more than one spray to get rid of it due to its mass seed dispersal system, but it’s still useful I believe.

Someone mentioned to try not to get it on the leaves of your trees. I was pretty careful but did manage to get some on my gardenia and it has burned. I don’t think it will adversely affect the tree. Also I sprayed my olive which has an oxalis carpet and forgot about the lignotuber shoots so they’ve all been blitzed too:
