I'm looking for advise for the complete care of a Blueberry Ash (Elaeocarpus reticulatus)

Of course you would, but probably only from a female....lol.

There isn't a lot of info even in the forum about Blueberry Ash, other than PeterH's posts. (mind you, that was enough for me to get some babies to go on with.)

I've cut the leaves of mine a couple of times last year, since it was strongly growing in a colander, just waiting now for the half leaves to be replaced with spring. I also wired it over winter....it's a bit snappy...

That's about the limit of my knowledge, sorry!

i have 2 growing both about 4 years old now they like there water and i give them some dinamic lifter take off any large leaves i dont wire mine they brake easy clip and grow my method seems to work for me i get blue berrys every year very hard to get a good shape .

Ah blueberry ash a great native tree. Generally not fussy. , but can be slow in re-establishing foliage that is removed.

Probably the only real problem i have experienced in about 27 years of growing it as a Bonsai is that it does not like heavy pruning from mid Autumn to mid Spring (Sydney), in fact mine almost died when i foolishly did so some years ago.

Mine regularly produces hundreds of beautiful blooms each year and that is a sight to behold.

Dear John - been busy all weekend with our guest demonstrator - don't do anything special with my pink one "Ballerina" - just feed it with native Osmocote. lots of water, but not standing in water tray as other natives, prune to outward/downward leaf node to promote dome shaped canopy, remove older/hanging down leaves regularly to open up branch structure. Repot Oct-Dec. Will bring it to next HBG meeting. Jan B
