Callistemon first flowering
Very happy with the first flowering.
I guess I need to prune fairly hard as soon as they finish?

Re: Callistemon first flowering
That's a generous amount of blooms - well done. Thanks for sharing the photo.
I would agree to trim back a lot of the length after the flowers have expired.

Re: Callistemon first flowering
I am officially jealous. Flowering won't start down here for a couple of months.
I agree a good trim will be required very soon but right now it looks spectacular. Congratulations.

Normally prune back below the flowers as they fade
You can prune callistemon hard and they bud really well

Thanks everyone for all the positive comments, I hope I don’t kill it when I prune it.

Re: Callistemon first flowering
agreed that's a great flowering. you definitely won't kill it by cutting back. but if you want it to flower like that again then don't trim or cut back from mid summer or you may remove the potential flower buds for next year

Re: Callistemon first flowering
Thanks for the info, I will cut it back before then, it would be nice to see the flowers again next year.
