11 O'clock Water Trays

Post by MelaQuin »

I have several thirsty plants that do not like wet feet. During really hot periods I put each in an '11 O'Clock Water Tray', so called because I ensure there is just enough standing water so that the tree will use it by 11 am and the soil can then gradually lose the high moisture content over the afternoon, keeping the tree moist enough for happiness and dry enough for health.

The one catch... if it rains you have to be sure to remove the trays! Even at 11 pm at night!
