Just call Burringbar before you make the trip, sometimes they don't have the plants ready to go...

Terry I think you're right about fresh seed....I have bought seed from online, but not one has ever germinated..

Or until someone finds an individual that has some different characteristic - different coloured foliage, different shaped foliage, prostrate (gardeners love something that's different) or even better a dwarf form that will fit into a suburban garden.

Hi Mel & Terryb, I tried to send a PM reply, but something went wrong and it didn't work. Anyway, thanks for the offer re seed Terry, but I still have some fresh seed I collected about 3 months ago and held back while planting some of it. Now that it's warmer I'll try again and hopefully this time it will germinate.
Mel, I went for a drive to the Upper Burringbar nursery today and bought a couple of callitris tubestock and a Daintree pine. I'd better not go there too often, it's too tempting with the large range of natives they have there.

No idea where the crepe myrtle seeds came from under the Callitris trees.... but it seems I picked up three, and they all shot... looks like I have some Crepe Myrtle groups on the go now...

You could have done a lot worse than Crepe Myrtle. Look forward to seeing how they go in a few years' time.

I didn't really need more CM....lol. I might pot them up as a kusamono and flog them off at the next exhibition sale.

Since they're seedlings, I suppose they'll be all sorts of different colours!?

They don’t look like crepe Myrtle to me. The leaves aren’t quite right and the flower buds are quite small and usually in clusters of several, not just one at the end of the growth.

Nah...they're CM for sure. Being seedlings they are displaying their first juvenile flowers, the clusters will develop as maturity is gained.
I reckon Mel will shortly have something that resembles this.

I should be running a book on the colours...lol.
