National Eucalyptus Day 2020
Tomorrow, Monday 23 March 2020 is national Eucalyptus day. May I suggest that we all post a photo of one of our own Eucalyptus bonsai to celebrate the day in style?
I promise I will post one tomorrow.

Here's my contribution, a couple of Eucalypts (species unknown) that I dug last spring. They are endemic to the S.E. Qld area.

Re: National Eucalyptus Day 2020
I've gone a bit nuts with my eucalypts (my wife might have some different wording for it if you ask her). Nothing close to a bonsai yet but check back in a few years

Re: National Eucalyptus Day 2020
Watto, it's ALWAYS Eucalyptus Day...
A couple of trunks I'm still working on:
E. elata, from memory.
?E. viminalis.
E. bridgesiana, about 8 years old.
E. crenulata, not my work, about 20 years old.
Look for small-leafed Eucs that grow in your area, grow them like mad, cut back hard, go crazy!
Gavin

Re: National Eucalyptus Day 2020
Thanks Greg and Gavin.
This one I dug in November 2018 so it is nearly ready to start the design and wiring processes. Unfortunately I don't know the species.
I dug this because it had some low down trunk movement.

On Gum Day - my gums ...
The River Gums in the [Natural] Comp and a start little River gums stump... all are given me joy. and a little Water Gum Cheers,
Mark
PS - Cool thread - thanks for starting - some great trees and PeterH - your tree is inspiring. As is Gavin's Bridgesiana and Sno's trees and bl@@dy back yard! Baldwitlion's Forest Red is cool too... in fact everyone have a crack at these bad units should be congratulated - they are chaotic in their habit and their reaction to anything approaching training - so anyone having a crack deserves a participation award.

A day late but here's mine. Local ironbark that popped up in another pot, 6mths from a little 2 leaf seedling now over 2cm across and chopped 3weeks ago.

Re: National Eucalyptus Day 2020
Funny... I was just searching the google-verse on behalf of Trunksie to figure out how to wire Sheoak and I found this article ... not about Sheoak http://anpsa.org.au/bonsaiSG/bonsai7.pdf... Pretty sure that PeterH and his tree is noted here back in 2004.
It's humbling to think that my 7 or so years in this sport is nothing... so early in my journey and so many experienced folk.
