This is my biggest ficus. Getting too big for me to manage so I've offered it for sale. $3,300 if you are interested in a 35 year old, massive trunk ficus rubiginosa.
In the meantime the branches were getting over long as trimming had been neglected for a couple of years. I chopped all branches hard in November.
The tree has responded with masses of new shoots all over most branches and also from the trunk. Now it is time to slelect and shorten the shoots that will stay and remove all the redundant new growth.
After pruning I noticed this dwarf green tree frog. Obviously unhappy that I've taken away his foliage but he stayed put while I worked and is now safely back in the poly house with the tree.
