Advice on Leptospurmum trinevium

Post by Elmer »

I have become enamoured with the local flaky bark ti-tree (Leptospermum trinervium) and looking for information oncollecting, care, training etc. There are a couple of posts on the forum, one with some useful info but they are no longer on the forum, anyone with experience growing/collecting this species.
Thanks in advance,
Elmer

PS. Collecting will be from a friend's property in the Hunter Valley

They can be dodgy to dig, so a water bath until you see new shoots may be the way to go. I would also not do it in the full heat of summer, but that's just me. Also depends on how old they are (younger may dig easier) and the conditions they are growing in - if it's baking dry, there may just be two thick roots going down an awfully long way... Good luck, I think they can be interesting, particularly if you only dig stuff with an interesting trunk to begin with.

Thanks Gavin, is that for all Leptospermum or specific to this species?

I have managed to track down contact details for a couple of growers who have had success with this species including quite large trees, will update here when I get a reply.

Generally for Leptos. I'd be interested in anything you can find out.
