Leptospermum Aphrodite

Post by Ray M »

Hi all,
I have lifted this Leptospermum off the garden. Thought I would share some photos.

HISTORY
  • Obtained from: A friend of mine had to give up doing bonsai. She gave me all of her stock trees.
Age: The tree was purchased from Cumberland State Forest, 14 March 2009
On the ground: The tree would have been sitting on the ground for about 2-3 years.

I left the tree in the water tray for a couple of days.

After I see good root growth I will start developing the tree.

Thank mate, it has lovely bark. One thing I'm looking forward to see is when it becomes a bonsai and flowers. The blurb on the tree says it has nice pink flowers.

Hi Josh,
The colander is about 320mm diameter.

Hi Pearcy,
Unfortunately mate, I haven't done a real lot with it. Last year was a real right off with health issues and having an extended holiday. This year I have used the tree for demonstrating at the School of Bonsai. The trunk is now 100mm diameter and I have used it to show how to start cutting back a native. I will keep you updated as I develop the tree further. It is still in good health and hopefully I'll be able to spend some more time developing it this year.

Regards Ray

It's completely understandable about you not having the time, hopefully now the health issues are in the past. I'm going overseas for 8 weeks over summer this year, so I'm praying my trees will be looked after by someone... I look forward to your future updates.

Cheers,
Pearcy.
