[Boics] Leptospermum obovatum ‘Starry Night’ Tea Tree

Post by Boics »

I purchased this tree what appears to be around 3 odd years ago.
I popped it into the ground to bulk up for around a year and then trunk chopped.

After the trunk chop the whole side of the tree proceeded to die on me which forced me to attempt to make a feature of it (with some very basic carving).

Since then I've just wired everything in an attempt to improve appearance and cut back multipe growth to 2s to improve ramification.

My goal has been to try to condense the canopy a bit so I chase backbudding branches lower where possible.
The colour of the tree is pleasing in sight (purpleish new growth) but I'm yet to see a flower on this tree.
I forget who's made the pot but I'm pretty sure it's one of our locals.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Really nice Boics.
I like the dead wood/ shari in the trunk and the tree/pot combo is a winner.
Very nice.
