collected 80 -100 kg olive stumps
Collected a couple of olive stumps today. Fingers crossed they live. Will put them in the ground to recover and will pot them later. Would hate to think how much a pot would cost

First picture left photo has great potential and taper.
I'd cut it much lower as once shoots starts going.. you'd have to cut again and lose all that growth and time
Dunk them and leave them in seasol bath and they'd pop in no time..

I concur, if a handsaw was used then some form of medal of honor must be in order.kcpoole wrote:Surely you did not cut those based off with a handsaw!

Well I have to admit I did use a chain saw till it shat itself didnt know weather to give up or cry had to cut the stump in the second photo by hand. Holy crap. Made worse by the sap sticking to the saw. After a lot of sweat and a few not to be repeated comments got it through about one hour later. And damn right thats not just coke after all that

Re: collected 80 -100 kg olive stumps
Well ive been looking at the three stumps almost every day. (Also talking to them). We'll keep that between us ey misses already thinks i'm crazy. Although I think she may already suspect I do talk to them . Anyway on with the update, there has been no movement and I was a little worried. Although I heard they can take a year to strike so not that worried. Anyway a couple of days ago all three started to get little nipples on them so was hoping for life soon. Yesterday I looked and all three at the same time to the day had a cracked nipple with a few buds in there. Today to my shock all of them now have up to ten clusters of buds just starting to come out. I assume there will be no stopping them now

Wonderful, kinda jealous though. Ive had a stump with a base like a basketball sit for a year with no signs of growth yet.

Re: collected 80 -100 kg olive stumps
Update. Also note to self. If trunk is already thick enough do not place in the ground. Apart from a couple of stubs at where branches may be i had to cut all the new roots off and am now back to square 1 .Anyway here is the pic.
on a side note it is now a one man tree as i cut more of the old base off . Only just though You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
