Tree wisteria seedlings

Hi All,

I have been trying to grow from seeds and recently potted some tree wisteria and some others too. But 2 out kf some 6-8 seeds have sprouted. I am going to leave them for now but should be the next step? Take them out of this tray and put them in some pots? I understand there is a tap root too which i need to cut ? Sorry have no idea as this is my first attempt so any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

You can proceed in a number of ways.
The main root can be cut at any time over the next 3 or 4 years so you do not need to panic about doing that immediately. Sometimes I transplant tiny seedlings and prune the roots really early, other times they stay in the seed trays for a couple of years before getting a root prune. Doesn't seem to make very much difference in the long run.
A larger pot will allow these to grow a but faster but yours already have a bit of room. You can leave them in these trays and slip pot when the roots are better established or you can prick them out earlier. Not much difference I'd say but as you are clearly beginning I'm sure you'll be happier leaving them for a while.
Just make sure you start feeding early. The mix probably has very little fert in it and what's there will leach out of such a small pot when you start watering. I'd aim for fortnightly liquid fert starting within a week or 2.
Let the trunks get a little thickness before you start trying to wire or prune so just enjoy watching them grow for now.
