Hi guys
Just wondering the best possible time to dig a very large jade plant ??
There is a monster at my dads place and he wants it gone
Any tips would be welcome as I have never dug one ,
plenty of acers and deciduous stuff but never a jade

Now.
Let the cuttings dry off completely, several days will not be too long, before planting into a very well-drained mix.
You can carve into the base of the cuttings as savagely as you like to encourage the formation of roots at that point.
Don't water at all until you see signs of new growth.

Jades are very hardy only way to kill them is water logging them and freezing.
Once you establish the plant keep pinching the tips as soon as new shoots emerge to get ramification.
If you leave them for long the internodal length increases.
As far as roots are concerned the will emerge from a jade branch irrespective of its thickness.

We've had the worst frosts in years this last winter in Canberra - every growing tip on my large jade went brown and crisp, but it's all come back. They really are tough. Go for it. If you can delay it till February, all the better.
