I would be grateful if you could help me. I just became an uncle and would like to get my nephew a seed and starter kit so he has a tree he can grow up with. I tried ordering Callistemon Viminalis seeds but they turned out to be an East Coast variety that couldn't be imported to Western Australia. Does anyone know a, preferably native, plant that would make a good bonsai growing in the Perth climate that I can source seeds for?

Looking at the list, perhaps Kunzea or Melaleuca might be a nice option?

Pup has some great bonsai from local Perth Melaleucas. You should also be able to source seed or small plants of some nice Callistemon in WA. I know one cultivar is Callistemon Kings Park special because it was first identified at the botanic gardens there. I see that Kings Park shop is selling packets of Callistemon glauca which should be just as suitable for bonsai.
Also try Nindethana seed based at Albany WA. they have 21 callistemon species listed at the moment.

these guys are located in WA. pretty fast delivery, and had nearly 100 percent success sprouting them.

I hope the seed is more accurately identified than the photos they have attached to the species. I'd swear that's a Japanese Black pine shown as Calitris endlicherii and there are plenty of other doubtful matches on that page

Hahahaha.

I love their ramification on the silky oak
and they way they’ve stretched each leaf of the banksia Spinulosa is mind boggling.
Yeah, that’s pretty poor.

Haha. Yeah allot of the photos are wrong but the few species iv bought seem to be as described.
