An airlayer machine??

Posting this more as a curiosity than anything else, has anybody else come across this device. Surely it can't be that simple ... can it! (he is airlayering a fig though, and the diameter of layer is pretty limited - so...)

those pictures that's a salvia im pretty sure ? looks interesting and a simple idea . Again limited to the parents thickness and would checking the layer from time to time dislodge the media?

Sorry, I wasn’t clear - the fig is in the YouTube video (in the link). I guess if you were doing a lot of thin layers at once it would be a bit less fiddly/time consuming than the bag method. There’s something for everything!
