Sow banksia seed any time of year. No need for treatment of seed.
There are some who only use native mix for banksia but I usually just use standard bonsai mix which works fine. Spread seeds on the surface of the mix and cover with 2-6mm of mix. Keep mix damp until seedlings emerge which should only take a couple of weeks.
I do lose some seedlings to damping off so be careful with watering in the weeks after germination. Also may be sensitive to fertiliser while really young so just light doses until they get a bit bigger.
If sowing a community pot prick seedlings out into individual pots any time after germination.
