Last weekend was the annual SA Bonsai Society olive dig. Each year we get permission to venture off into a national park and dig out olives - just gotta fill in any holes and stack cut off branches on top. We hit up the same location as last year - there are thousands of olives to choose from, and quite a few with some interesting movement and nice old bark.
I spotted a wiggly-looking olive that I thought was familiar - it's one that Matt posted last year. After getting Matt's blessing I spent the next hour getting it out and back up the hill to the car. The lignotuber is stupidly dense - it took a combination of a chainsaw with a very blunt and ruined chain, a reciprocating saw, a hatchet and a hammer and cold chisel to cut it flat.
We were joined by the two Aussie Bonsai Blokes - vid is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm_mXxdNjhE&t=1s
