You will finally have enough time to work on all of your trees so you're culling them? :lost:

I would use that as an excuse to get more :tu:

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.

That is true, but I look at it from the perspective of their growth stage and the attention that will be needed. Along with advanced years. Culling to just the best that I have will be the aim rather than having lots that I don't pay enough attention to.

I have come to the conclusion that, ONE is too many as it leads to an affliction, it is called Bonsai, itis it has no known cure.
It can lead to all kinds of disturbances around the home.
Such as divorce couch potatoe sleeping arguments of disturbing freequency. Also with no know cure.

You have been warned.
IN THE LIGHT OF KNOWLEDGE ATTAINED, ACHIEVEMENT IS WITHIN SIGHT

I am not a complete fool, some parts are missing

I say, give it a few years Jarad, and you will understand what Craig is talking about. There is a massive difference between 'starter' stock and a bonsai.

I style Bonsai naturally, just as they would appear in the wild.

I really like the idea of 20 or so trees but you really need a range of pre-bonsai (vegetative shields) to defend your collection from newbies trying to bum your best trees for a gold coin price. There is an overwhelming tendancy for those quickly attracted to bonsai not to comprehend the responsibility/obligation that comes with owning/caring for a bonsai. That said it is very satisfying to help another convert start out.

I don't know how many Bonsai would be too many as I haven't got there yet, but with probably over 3000 plants and most needing repotting, I'm finding it hard to get time to look after them properly. Fortunately a 1000 odd are orchids that have survived many years of neglect (even thrived) and I have many rainforest trees that will just stay as they are until I repot and feed them. I repotted nearly 100 Firewheel Trees (Stenocarpus sinuatus) today from 50mm tubes to 100mm tubes and some in 150mm pots which means 3 times as much bench space. I think if I repotted everything i would probably need 5 times the space I have now.
