[For Guests] Why register and become a member?

Post by gocny »

Hi Guest,

Are you looking for a great place to share your bonsai knowledge? Are you seeking advice for your bonsai? Would you like to make some new friends with bonsai enthusiasts just like yourself?

Then ausbonsai.com (AB.C) is the place for you.

AB.C is not only a great bonsai resource but the people here are really friendly too. Membership is free and will be free forever.

Even if you don't know computers very well, that's not a valid excuse... 8-) After you join ausbonsai.com, you might find your computer skills getting much better! A lot of members here didn't know how to post, how to start a new topic, how to upload picture to share, but guess what, they now are helping fresh members to get familiar with the forum functions and some of them have even learned how to edit photos! There are so many things you can share and learn here, why not just open the door and enjoy the excitement?!

You can browse the forum as a guest and read all the posts but you won't be able to view pictures or post your own comments. We have done this to encourage active participation. If you feel that you would like to become a member then please read the following easy tutorial for joining Australia's online bonsai community.

The first thing you need to do is find the link for registration at the right hand side right below the 'search box' in our logo banner, once you find the link, click it! See the picture below.

Image

Now a new page will be loaded and you will see the terms of registration. Read it through and scroll down to the bottom of the page and find the button "I agree to there terms" and click it! Otherwise you will not be able to finish the registration process. See the picture below.

Image

Now another new page will be loaded and you will be asked to fill in some blank fields.
Username will be your name on the forum, you don't have to use your real name. A user name is like a nick name - An example of User name would be bonsailover, ILoveFicus or whatever you like! You can choose to use your real name if you wish and many members have done this :D

E-mail address: This field is required and you need a valid email address to fill in this blank. If you don't have an email address, you can go to register a free one from https://www.hotmail.com , https://www.yahoo.com or https://www.gmail.com .

Confirm email address: This field is required and you will need to type the same email address in the field above.

Password: That's your choice then...

Confirm password: You need to type your password again here.

See the picture below.

Image

Now scrolling down...

Language: You don't really have a choice there. Just leave it as "British English".

Timezone: Select yours from the dropdown list.

Location: Tell us what state or suburb you are located in. This helps others know what your climate is like when discussing bonsai.

Favorite Species: Do you have one??? Let us know.

Bonsai Age: How long you have been practicing bonsai.

10x2+1=? (21): This is really just a simple question to stop bots and spammers. You need to delete the default value and type "21" in this blank.

(9854-9824)x3+? (90): This is really just another stupid question to stop bots and spammers. You need to delete the default value and type "90" in this blank.

See the picture below.

Image

Now scroll to the bottom of the page, we are nearly there!

You will see this little picture with some random characters in it. Type them in the blank field below it, don't worry about the upper or lower case.

After you do that, there is just one thing left - clicking the Submit button! See the picture below.

Image

Then you will see the picture below. Ok you are nearly there...the last thing you need to do is to check your email.

Image

Go to your own email account and check an email sent from "noreply@ausbonsai.com", see picture below. Click the link in the red box...

Image

After you click the link, a webpage will be opened. See picture below, 3 seconds after, the page will be redirected to the homepage. Now you are still a guest, but you already have your username and password to login as an ausbonsai.com member. Congratulation, you can start exploring the great Aussie bonsai world!
