Re: Has Ausbonsai got a problem with the Website
G'day all,
Sorry about the recent forum problems, my lack of time on AusBonsai and communication about this issue.
My work (which also pays for AusBonsai) has been incredibly busy over the last couple of months due to some very good and bad reasons. I won't bore you with details.
There were some very serious issues with the servers that AusBonsai are hosted on that lasted for 12 + days. We do keep regular back ups but due to the huge size of our database and 55,000 + photos, it is not possible for us to back up daily so we rely on the hosts for this. We were able to revert to our most recent back up which was not corrupted and this is why there is a period of 12 days data missing. We have been working with our web hosts to resolve the problems and try to recover the data. The good news is that it looks like the data has been located. The bad news is that it will take us considerable time to restore.
I'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that AusBonsai is a safe place to post your pictures and record your information. We do everything possible to maintain the security of the site and database. We have a very capable and dedicated team of moderators who log in regularly across the day to keep things in order and keep the riff-raff out.
Thanks for your understanding!
Best regards,
Steven

Re: Has Ausbonsai got a problem with the Website
Keep up the good work!! From what I've seen in my short time, this place is fantastic!
I've run a website myself before (might have even been hosted on the same platform, as the layout is VERY similar) so I can understand the troubles that come from running a website whilst having a full time job. I had to hand the reigns over when my work life picked up after having the site for a good 4years, so I do appreciate the effort
It doesn't matter in the long run, we've only got one more day left before the end anyway

Have a question? The AusBonsai Wiki most likely has the answer!

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

I am getting the same message. Also of late I have found the site to be interminably slow, no other sites I do peruse are as slow.
It gets to the point where I just give up and go away.
Cheers Pup
